Why I Write, Part 12





I pulled this down from one of the message boards where I lurk. I think it came from NASA via Warren Ellis’s site, but I’m not privy to the latter and can’t locate it on the former. Anyway, it’s beautiful: a shuttle launch photographed from the International Space Station.

As it happens, I did some googling to see if I could find a higher-res version of the same picture...and it turns out it probably wasn't shot from the ISS after all, but a chase plane:

Sorry, the cut and paste on the URL didn't work. But if you google on '"shuttle launch" from ISS' it's the fifth one down.

Still a cool picture though...
